Do we need an institution account to start?+

No. Individual teachers and students sign up directly — a teacher creates a course and shares a join code, and students can even study solo on their own uploaded material. Institutional rollouts add oversight and administration on top; talk to us about a pilot.

Will the AI just give students the answers?+

By design, no. The Socratic Tutor teaches by questioning and never states the answer; Gated Notes make students commit their own answer before an explanation opens; and the assignment self-check never has access to the teacher's reference solution, so it can't leak it.

How does AI grading work?+

In two stages. The AI grades each submission against the rubric the moment it's turned in, so students get a grade and specific feedback instantly instead of waiting weeks. The professor or TA then reviews and posts the official grade, and students can file regrade requests resolved in the gradebook.

Where does our data live?+

Student learning records — profiles, courses, quiz attempts, and knowledge states — are stored in Canada. AI features (retrieval over uploaded material, tutor conversations, tutor memory) are processed on Google Cloud, and all data remains within Canada and the US.

Is our data used to train AI models?+

No. Course material, conversations, and student work are never used to train AI models — ours or Google's.

What AI actually powers the tutors?+

Production-grade Gemini models on Google Cloud's enterprise Vertex AI platform — no experimental or preview models. Every tutoring reply is screened by independent guardrails on the way in and the way out, before a student ever sees it.

What happens when we delete a course or an account?+

Deletion is real deletion. Removing a course — or an account — removes its lessons, uploads, assignments, conversations, and tutor memory, including the copies the AI features use, for every member of that course.

What does it cost?+

Students start free, and teachers get the full portal free with up to 2 enrolled students. Paid plans — student Pro, the per-student teacher model, and institutional pricing — are laid out on the pricing page.

What material can we upload?+

Documents (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, text, and more), spreadsheets, images, audio, and video. Uploads are parsed and indexed so every tutor reply, quiz, and study aid stays grounded in your actual course — not generic content.
